Methodologies

An interactive method will be used throughout the course comprising lectures, group discussions and hands-on exercises on the skills and attributes of making an effective and powerful presentation. Case studies will be used as well and these will be analysed in relation to style, content, language, effectiveness and logic.

There will be several individual presentation exercises which will be video-recorded for critique and self-assessment.

Programme Trainer

Mae Wong has been conducting training, both locally and regionally, specialising in the area of English Language & Business Communication Programmes, for the past 20 years.

In line with her expertise, Mae has conducted talks and programmes on Business Communication, Effective Business Writing, Effective Reports, Writing Effective Minutes of Meetings and English programmes for various companies and institutions such as Raffles Hotel, The Singapore Exchange, UOB, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Reuters, IRAS, and DHL.

Prior to corporate training, Mae was actively involved in projects and other consultancy work for several years. She was a tutor of the Written Communication Skills module at the English Language & Applied Linguistics, National Institute of Education (NIE) for three years. She was also the editor and writer of the first edition of the WISE textbooks, and an in-house editor for Global Educational Services Pte Ltd. She also launched and published the Real Estate News.

In terms of qualifications, Mae has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Singapore. She was also offered a government scholarship to the University of London for a Master’s degree in TESOL. In addition to this MA in TESOL, Mae holds a Master’s degree in English at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. Mae also has a Diploma of Education from the Institute of Education.
